What is myCAV?

myCAV is our online system which lets you manage your licensing and registration obligations, without needing to print and post paper forms.

How do I create a myCAV account?

To create a myCAV account, you will need a personal email address to verify your identity. Your email address and password will then form your unique, secure access to the myCAV system.

Create or sign in to your myCAV account

After navigating to consumer.vic.gov.au/mycav, select Create account.

Personal details

You will need to enter the required personal information, including your full name, date of birth, a mobile phone number (or alternative phone number) and an email address.

Important: You must use a unique email address to create your myCAV account. You cannot use an address that you share with another member of your organisation.

Security details

After entering your personal information, you will select Next to move to the Security details page.

You will need to create a password which you will use to access your account. Your password must be a minimum length of 8 characters and must include at least one of each of the following:

  • Lower case letter (a-z)
  • Upper case letter (A-Z)
  • Digit (0-9)
  • Special character (!&@?#=*^+~-)

You will also need to set up security questions which will be used to help you access your account if you change your email address.

After entering your password and security questions, you will select Register.

Do we already know you?

If your personal details partially match the information we have recorded, we will ask you some additional questions to confirm your identity.

The first question will ask if you hold any individual licences or registrations. If you are involved with an incorporated association or a co-operative, you can answer No to this question and select Next.

The next question will ask whether you perform any of the listed roles and may display your role(s) with a co-operative or incorporated association. If any of the roles are correct, select that role and then Next. This will help you to see the correct information in myCAV. If none of the roles look correct, select None of the above and then Next.

Confirm email

The next screen will advise you that an activation email has been sent to the address that you nominated. You will need to check your email to find the activation email and then select the activate myCAV account link.

Once you have selected that link, you can sign into your myCAV account using your nominated email address and password.

What if I already have a myCAV account?

If you are involved with a registered fundraiser or another licence or registration, you might already have a myCAV account.

The next time you sign into your existing myCAV account, you should now be able to see your role(s) in a co-operative or incorporated association in the We know you as section of your myCAV homepage. Depending on your role, you may also be able to see the registration in the Licences and registrations section of your homepage.

If you can’t see your co-operative or incorporated association role(s), see the Troubleshooting section below.

Troubleshooting

Information about common questions is included below. For more assistance, please contact us.

Why can’t I enter my preferred email address?

When you are creating your myCAV account, you may receive an error if you have entered an invalid email address. Check the email address you entered to make sure that it is correct.

You may also receive an error telling you that your email address is already in use. You will be unable to proceed to create an account using that email address.

Every myCAV user must have a unique email address. If your email address is already recorded for another individual, you won’t be permitted to use it to create an account. You will need to enter a different email address to proceed.

This error may occur when the personal details you have entered didn’t match the information recorded with us. Review the details you have entered to ensure that they are correct and match any information you have previously given us regarding your incorporated association or co-operative.

If you don’t have an alternative email address that you can enter, you can contact us for further assistance.

Why can’t I see my role in a co-operative or incorporated association?

If you create or sign into your myCAV account but can’t see any information about your co-operative or incorporated association role(s), this might be because the information you entered didn’t match the information recorded with us.

If you are the secretary of an incorporated association: On your myCAV homepage, scroll to the Apply for a licence or registration in myCAV and find the correct organisation type (Incorporated association or Co-operative). Select the organisation type to show a list of options and select the link to Start as the secretary for an existing incorporated association/co-operative. The transaction will guide you through the process to link yourself to the existing organisation as the secretary.

Important: You will need to know the organisation’s registration number to link yourself as the secretary. You can find this by searching the public register.

If you are a delegate for an incorporated association or a board member or chief executive officer for a co-operative: You will need to ask the secretary for your incorporated association or co-operative to sign into their myCAV account and add you to your relevant role with the organisation.

I didn’t receive my activation email?

Check whether the email has been sent to your spam or junk folder.

If the Confirm email screen is still open in your browser, you can select re-send link to request another activation email.

You can also return to consumer.vic.gov.au/mycav and enter your email and password to sign in. You will then receive a message with the option to re-send your activation email.
