Notify us of changes to these details

You must tell us about any changes to your incorporated association’s details on the public register of incorporated associations in Victoria.
You need to notify us via myCAV when your incorporated association:

  • appoints a new secretary
  • changes secretary address or email address
  • changes its registered address
  • changes its name
  • changes financial year end date
  • changes rules (find more information on incorporated association rules)
  • adopts model rules (find more information on incorporated association rules).

When to notify us

Please notify us of changes to your association's name or rules within 28 days.

For all other changes, notify us within 14 days. Please refer to the Update details section above.

If you have made a change but have not notified us within the required timeframes, please do so as soon as possible.

Keep your association’s details up to date or it may miss important notifications from us.

Transfer an incorporated association to another registered body

You must also tell us if your incorporated association transfers its registration to become another registered body (such as a company limited by guarantee), within 14 days of the transfer occurring.

Your association must first approve the transfer, and any associated change of name, by passing a special resolution at a general meeting. You must submit to us:

  • a copy of the meeting minutes showing the resolutions
  • a copy of a document showing the organisation’s new registration. For example, a certificate of registration with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission
  • any outstanding association annual statements.

Submitting the correct documents will ensure that your organisation:

  • is no longer subject to the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012, and
  • will be removed from the public register of incorporated associations.

To notify Consumer Affairs Victoria of a transfer of incorporation, please email cav.registration@dgs.vic.gov.au.

Annual statement

Your association must lodge an annual statement with us every year within one month after its annual general meeting. Find more information about lodging an annual statement.
